3.3.1 Storage of per-user configuration on Windows

Per-user data is stored on Windows as a configuration file in the `Application Data' directory. The location (and name) differs in various versions and languages of Windows - on Windows 2000 and NT it is something like `C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data', on Win9x `C:\WINDOWS\Application Data'.

The actual path of the configuration file is generated from the unique identifier by replacing all dots ('.') with backslashes ('\') and adding a `.cfg' suffix.

Example: The configuration with the unique identifier `MyGames.ClickFrenzy2' will actually be stored as `Application Data\MyGames\ClickFrenzy2.cfg'.

The configuration file format is the same as described in 3.2 Configuration File.

Registry access

On Windows, it is also possible to read and store configuration settings to and from the registry; for more information please refer to the documentation of the csWin32RegistryConfig class.
